The history of the Canadian Prairies is a truly distinctive and multifaceted history, unlike any other. The grotesque cartoon has a seminal function within my work. The emphasis of satire through humour and narrative merge the comic strip, art history, allegory and local histories. Growing up in the remnants of an old Prairie city that continues to live out its raucous history in a twisted, contemporary Wild West has inspired me to dig deeper towards attempting to understand and play with this North American phenomenon.
